(Rosaceae)
Photinia microphylla  BSWJ11837

Description

Our second collection of this small evergreen shrub with branches of small thick textured glossy ovate-orbicular leaves, which turn a brilliant crimson or orange in autumn. From the slopes of the tallest mountain in northern Vietnam, Fansipan, where this shrub only formed a tight ball of evergreen reddened foliage in the starved conditions, bearing tightly packed cymes of small white flowers followed by yellow fruit ageing orange-red, in the autumn. Easily grown in any well drained soil in sun or part shade.
