Embothrium (Proteaceae)

coccineum 'Norquinco Form'

A semi-evergreen shrubby small tree originating from Chile (hence the name Chilean fire bush), with erect trunks to 7-8m, taller if very long lived. The branches draped in clustered linear-lanceolate leaves almost hidden by the orange-red long tubular flowers carried in abundance May-June in this form originating from Bodnant gardens. Best grown in acidic well drained soil with enough humus to retain some moisture, avoiding too much nutrients.
